January 22, 2014 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Alan Korwin, 602-996-4020 ATF CONFIRMS: VIRTUALLY ALL GUN OWNERS SUBJECT TO ARREST IN CARS Possession of firearms within 1,000 feet of a school -- even with a legitimate carry permit -- does not protect you from arrest under the so-called Gun-Free School-Zones Law, if you're not in the state that issued the permit. If you have no permit you have no protection at all from this onerous law. Permits are not required for gun possession for the vast majority of American citizens. Only about 2% of the gun-owning public gets or wants government-issued carry permits. About half the homes in the country have firearms and people at some point travel with them, even if only from the point of purchase to home, or from home to a place for practice. No such travel is protected for routine possession under the bizarre conditions of this law, as confirmed now by BATFE to the Oklahoma Second Amendment Assn., in the letter described and copied below. Arrest and conviction permanently removes the right to keep and bear arms. //////// NOTICE: 1. An Oklahoma permit holder traveling on public roads can be federally prosecuted for carrying a gun in other states that recognize Oklahoma's permit 2. An Oklahoma permit holder can be federally prosecuted for discharging their firearm in an act of otherwise lawful self defense (carjacking). 3. A conviction under the Federal Gun Free School Zones Act causes a person to become a lifetime prohibited firearm buyer/possessor. Grant Chapman Read the BATFE letter for yourself: PDF

MOST PRIVATE GUN POSSESSION BANNED-- Gun-Free School Zones Impact Greater Than Expected
New maps disclose unexpected result of 1,000-foot bans
Federal law makes it a crime to possess a firearm off your property and within
1,000 feet of a school, with a few narrow exceptions. When all gun-free zones
were recently plotted for schools in two major cities (Phoenix and Cleveland),
using computer mapping, it became apparent that virtually all public travel
with firearms is now a violation of law. ### Contact: |
